Life's a BEACH!!

New Summer 11 from Seafolly!! Beautiful...

I can't wait for September when the weather becomes warm enough to spend time on the beach and not get too hot or sunburnt. We have booked our week away in Northern NSW which we do every year and   we are all really looking forward to it. I have rented a large house so the girls can each bring a friend and we can all enjoy some time away eating, reading and browsing through some fabulous shops in Byron Bay and Bangalow!!

Everything you need for a beautiful table setting!

I really enjoy stocking beautiful flowers in Vanilla House I have just received stunning Lemon's and Pinks in roses, vintage Hydrangea's in greens, blues and white. Tulips that I have been asked over and over if they are real.

These flowers are wonderful to have at home when you can't get fresh ones or with a lot of my brands you can actually place the stems in water with your fresh flowers to fill up a vase for a much cheaper price.

Beautiful tableware is coming in next week. Teapots in pink's and turquoise, teacups and saucers to match. Combine with one of the lovely table cloths from Bungalow The Brown Trading Company and you will have a stunning table setting to enjoy with all your friends and family.

All of this is available at Vanilla House, I am always happy to post so don't miss out.

Mela Purdie in store at Vanilla House

Stunning Mela Purdie Spring/Summer 11.  Read Mela's own words below.

"My aim is to create luxurious and simple clothes with a philosophy of ‘less is more’.
Time restraints of modern living have led me to believe that a core wardrobe of comfort basics is essential to help today’s woman get going each day.
I always look for quality, well cut basics in my wardrobe. These essentials give me a platform for individual style while working, on vacation or enjoying time with my family.
Long destination travel requirements inspire me to keep developing a range that will ‘shrink my travel bag and make dressing easy’. These clothes allow you to travel light and ensure the right look for effortless chic on the move.
Depart in comfort, arrive in style, wrap and layer for a fast change. These clothes are comfortable in all climates.
A combination of essentials, urban coordinates and fashion highlights complete a look that is travel ready and street smart.
The collection and essentials are available all year and follow the simple philosophy of layering for all occasions."

New Beckham Baby!

"I am so proud and excited to announce the birth of our daughter Harper Seven Beckham. She weighed a healthy 7lbs 10oz and arrived at 7.55 this morning, here in LA. Victoria is doing really well and her brothers are delighted to have a baby sister xx"

AND HOW DID SHE GET HER NAME?
Harper is an old English name that Victoria has always loved, PEOPLE has learned, and seven is considered a very lucky spiritual number.
In addition, Harper Seven was born Sunday morning in L.A.’s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center weighing 7 lbs. (and 10 oz.) in the seventh hour in the seventh month — on the seventh day of the week.
And you can't helping thinking, seven was David’s jersey number for Manchester United and the English national team.

Style is in the eye of the beholder!

What is your style?
Mine is an Eclectic mix of Classic, Vintage, French, the list goes on. I don't have a particular style that wins over every time. I do know though when out shopping I always seem to fall in love with the most expensive items in the store. I love well designed pieces and pieces that will last.

My mother was a seamstress and she always made us clothes out of the most beautiful fabric's. Linen and Cotton Voile were always a favourite and my sisters and I always had beautiful pieces. We only had to show mum a picture out of the latest Vogue and she would hand draft a pattern onto the fabric and before we knew it she had made one of us a designer piece. My love of fabrics, colour and timeless styles was definitely passed on from my mum and sisters!

In my store I choose most of my stock on my first impression. If I think too hard about a particular item I find myself second guessing my choice. I have been able to mix Classic French with Modern Contemporary pieces quite well in the store. I don't believe in just keeping it to one look. I love colour but I also love the soft hues of French Country and Scandinavian Designs.

Food is another one of my passions and I just love to try different styles of cooking.
My family is English and we ate a very typical English menu. But I was very lucky to have an older sister who introduced me to all sorts of wonderful food.

I believe that our own personal style comes from our hearts, and starts from our childhood. Think about what makes you happy what might stir up good memories and surround yourself with those things.
Enjoy your uniqueness and remember that Style is in the eye of the beholder!

Chocolate and Caramel Pudding

I have made this sensational Chocolate and Caramel Pudding from the current Donna Hay Magazine. It was really good!
I love cooking and one day I will have the time to cook a lot more than I do now.
If you get the chance buy this issue and make some time to try a few recipes. We have also had one of the rice puddings and beef pies that are inside.

Ingredients

  • 1 x 380g can store-bought caramel filling*
  • 1/3 cup (80ml) double (thick) cream
  • 200g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 60g butter
  • 3 eggs
  • ½ cup (90g) brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup (60g) almond meal (ground almonds)
  • Cocoa, for dusting

Method

Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 45 minutes
Preheat oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Place the caramel in a bowl and whisk until smooth. Add the cream and mix well to combine. Place 1/3 cup (80ml) of the caramel mixture in the base of a 4 x 1 ½ cup-capacity (375ml) ovenproof dishes.
Place the chocolate and butter in a heatproof bowl over a saucepan of simmering water and stir until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
Place the eggs, sugar and vanilla in the bowl of an electric mixer and beat for 8-10 minutes or until doubled in size. Fold the chocolate mixture and almond meal through the egg mixture and divide between the dishes.
Place on a baking tray and bake for 18-20 minutes or until risen and the centres are soft. Stand for 5 minutes. Dust with cocoa to serve.
